sony_dualdeck_cassette

need info on this antiquated piece. it wasn't used much or abused so
when the cartridge holder wouldn't open that was the beginning. I couldn't
get the tape out. I opened the unit and moved a lever to open the door.
Where should I begin a check for what failed. The unit powers up and
illuminates as normal. thanks vanbruz

what model is this theres two models made same year that one had a steel tape transport the other one was plastic.the plastic model was low end priced for department stores.ciruit board was great realible.look at the belt and small clutch capstan to reel table.compare it with the good one and compare.forgot to say first go to electronic store and get a speay cleaner no lubericate properties.and clean out old grease and oils first then preceed.

their are 34 differ sony tape decks it help if we had a model number so i can look it up.i have access to 28 of them.

can you send a photo and post to be sure what you have

Thanks for the help. The unit is a TC-WR820A. I also have what is
probably the cheaper made unit a TC-WR570 and it also has the same
problem.

i will see what info i have and be back with some kind of facts on the mechanics are they plastic transports. also play a tape to the end see if it autostops and then see if door will open.sony had this problem with their decks.
