I've had a Hyvision from MegaVision for 5 years.

both remote and set controls go crazy, menu goes through endless routine - wont stop. pull the plug and get a few minutes without the same problem
can you describe the sound. is it a squealing sound or does it sound like the fan blades are hitting something. the motor is sealed. you could try WD-40 on it.
We also subjectively have a somewhat noisy boom boom sound when the furnace is working. The tech sayed the sound we delicately hear is just air being pushed through the ducts.
