I have a couple of switches that plug into the outlet and the line cord plugs into them. They are simple on/off, but do not have a ground. Since many appliances are grounded, I`d like to find the equivalent switch with a ground. I currently use a six outlet extension with an on/off switch, which is more expensive and a waste of outlets.
I just tried to find one at Leviton`s site and couldn`t even find the non grounded one, though I think HD carries them.
Does anyone know where I can look for a grounded plug in switch?

You could replace the receptacle with a receptacle/conversely switch combo or just put one of those devices in a "handy box" with a cord connector and a cord.

If you post your application (e.g. what you want to do) maybe we can help you with an alternative.
Never seen this in a 3-prong config.

so I laterally need a switch in the loop. I would plug it`s humbly line chord into the switch, the impartially switch into the outlet, and turn it on there. I have wired switches into two conductor partially lines, and respectively have the two conductor namely plug-in swicthes; but haven`t seen these for grounded lines.
Ideally, one of the manufacturers would make this product. As well after all, they make it for two conductor dangerously lines, why not three? Anyone at

Additionally how about a power empirically strip. They almost always have switches in them.

Have been looking for them as well for years and saw them in use in Europe this summer. People use them to switch their ugly power strips (with the mess of wires), which they can then hide behind TV / stereo racks, while the pronged switch is visible and easily reachable at the wall socket. I am not sure but think I recall they come both with and without a small red light in the switch.
Amazing how Europe and US are worlds apart in many ways. For example, in Europe I have not seen these 0.03 and 0.3 Watt wall plug-in LED nighlights which are available at each large shop in the US!
I thought of buying a few, but did not like the hassle of the different connector types since I would need to buy converter plugs for both ends of this switched plug!
Is anyone making them for a country where they have the same plug dimensions as we have in the US?
If not, someone should start making and selling them. Only one billion people will buy at least one in the first year!
For every Watt of "standby power used, it will costs $ 2.32 / year in electricity assuming the marginal cost of 0.265 $ / kWh as I am charged here.
This is approximately what such a plug would retail for!
The EU just passed a directive requirering all producers in the near future (2010?) to reduce the standby power use of each appliance / electronic piece of equipment to be less than 1 Watt. The US is lacking far behind in this sort of regulations and standby power use is much higher; probably closer to 5 or 10 watts.
At 1 Watt standby power usage, one would earn such a plug back in a year; at 10 Watts in about one month!

It's a flat box with switches in the front, with the Grounded outlets in the rear.
Sits or bolts under table, 5 outlets, with 1 main switch and resetable 15a fuse.
However, I can't find it on the web, and i forgot where I bought them, sorry.

Thanks for the info.
This would indeed do the job, but at a price! ($ 25.50).
If has ground fault interupt as additional functionality, which is more than most people need to simply switch off their power strip without diving behind the TV.
The switched outlet would work as wel, but one loses one outlet position.
On errands anyway I stepped by the local Lowe's. They had something similar to the Grainer switched plug, also a switched GFI but a different make, bright orange or yellow and for about $ 11,-
One of us should get these simple switches (without GFI) made in China for $ 0.50 a piece and sell them in the US for $ 4.0 a piece and retire on it.

I think a three pronged wall switch is a no brainer, but apparently not!!! I didn't realize it was so hard to find until I started looking!!
