Hi
I have my power feed coming into a room with one outlet, and i need to spit the power to two different light switches. I am not quite sure how to do this and would appreciate if someone can walk me through it.
thanks

you can only pull so much power off of each breaker in sub panel.first you have to know whats already ran off of that particular breaker. for example, how many outlets, lights are already on that line.just because theres power there doesnt mean you can run more off it. you could hook into it and later find out when you are running appliences off outlets and turning on lights that the breaker will pop.the number of and wattage of light bulbs also enters into it as well. im a do it yourself kind of person as well and would never dicourage anyone from trying new things . thats how you learn. but if your not familure with at least some of the technical knowledge , you could waste your time, money or create a potential fire hazard. and if your a novice at electrical, i wouldnt recommend working in your sub panel. if you dont know what your doing you could hurt or kill yourself..DANGER

What Scott says is all true.

This is pretty simple though, run a branch off the outlet to one switch, then the other.
Keep the wattage down (say by using CFLs) and you'll never have a problem.

I'm a visual person though, so I always recommend getting a book w/ lots of pictures and diagrams... just me

Good luck, work safe!
