My furnace and AC use the same squirrel cage but righ around time it started getting cold and I switched over to heat I noticed the blower was not kicking on..Well after fooling with it I found that if I get it going by hand it will go. So I have to keep the fan going all the time or it will not start again by itself. It has a direct drive system so no belt...Does it have to be oiled and if so where do you oil it?

Greetings joey welcome to the forum.

Most Blowers have a Start Capacitor. Look around on it, and it should be mounted outside, possibly with a little cover over it. Might try replacing it, check the Mf and Voltage, use a exact replacement.
That'd be my first guess.

Second, you need to do an Amp Check on the motor, see how much it's drawing, and evaluate that for replacement.

You suggest that it's not locked up, you can start it by hand, right?

Also, I'd think a one piece unit like that, would have sealed bearings.

Have a good Day !
