hello
the steel door between my garage and house is binding in its frame. there is *no* clearance - a piece of paper placed in the strike side of the frame will not withdraw if i close the door. i've tried a file on the door edge, but that's not a help.
any ideas on how to make more clearance between the strike side of the door and the frame?

Greetings Bruce welcome to the Forum.

Is this something that's happened recently? You notice any taper on the top of the door to the Frame (settling of the house)?
Is the clearance (or lack of) consistent from the top to the bottom of the door?

More details please !

Have a good Day !

not settling. the (negative) gap is pretty uniform along the entire jamb side of the door. there was some bashing to make things fit: the top of the frame, and the floor, are not level altho they are parallel to each other (think of a parallelogram with the hinge and jamb sides parallel and vertical).
i had painted the room a few months ago, but i also have removed the paint which got into the jamb space. so it seems to be metal-to-metal contact between door and jamb.
thanks!
