I have a stihl 026 chain saw with a 16 in. bar. I was wondering if I could buy a 16 in. bar at Wal-Mart and a 16 in Poulan chain? Just wondering.

You could buy any bar for it, only thing is with stihl's the bar studs are oversize compare to most other brands. You'd have to use a die-grinder to widen slot in bar to the same width as the diameter of the bar studs. As far as chain goes, all the same(as long as you get the same pitch) which for yours i'm guessing would be 3/8 but double check on that. If you don't want to tackle grinding out your bar, if theres a repair shop or dealership near you, they'll most likely do it for you for a couple bucks.

bar don't matter i got a 14 inch poulan and a 16 inch homelite and the bars are interchangeable. the chains are not as they each have differn't pich etc. make sure the chain you get fits the pitch width etc of the new bar.
