Hello,

I have received per post today a tape deck : Alpine Al 80 built in the early 80's.

The cosmetic condition is excellent.

Before putting electricity in it, I tried to open the door and it worked fine.

I sticked the power cord in the wall and switched the machine on (without cassettes), and suddenly, the block with all the heads went up and I cannot open the door anymore.

I switched the machine off but the block with head remain up and still impossible to open the door.

Maybe it is the driving belt ... ? All suggestions are welcome.

Thanks in advance.

I would remove the cover and look for possibly something jamming the mechanism, play button jammed or whatever drives the heads up is getting constant power.
