Greetings James, and welcome to the Forum !

Heard of it, and, the stuff you spray in your Attic too. Never used either of them.

I guess i'm a little "old school" when it comes to Insulation, like Engines, the only replacement for Cubic Inches, is MORE cubic inches, or more efficient ones anyway.

Just can't see how a few thousandths inch of Paint, would provide one with a substantial improvement in that area.

As you, I hope we can get a good Topic going on this, and all become better informed.

Thanks for joining us.

Have a good Day !

James,

Thanks for the URL, it was a very interesting article !

Product has some very heavy weight approvals listed, and that usually makes a strong contribution to it's cost, which I didn't find there.
I did do a general search on Thermal Insulating Paint, which provided several URL's. If you don't get what you're looking for, try that, but, give this a chance first.

Have a good Day !

Hi,

I live in a cold, draughty house that takes a while to warm up and costs were sky rocketing for heating bills. To really insulate a room you need to pull the curtains just before it gets dark and the temperature starts to drop.

We have a huge floor-to-ceiling bay window in the front room, so as well as traditional curtains in the bay, we also have a pair in front of the bay. You really notice the difference they make on a cold evening.

Years ago we got rid of the radiators in our hall and landing, never saw the point in heating areas that aren't lived in! It helped train the kids to shut doors to conserve heat in the rooms we were using, too. The only rooms I need really warm are the lounge and the bathroom.

When I first came across Thermilate Additive I was a bit sceptical to be honest. I was thinking how can a paint additive make these huge changes.

After reseraching into their NASA technology and the micro-spheres creating a vacuum, well it did sound impressive.

Went ahead and bought a pouch of 550g. Thought it had satisfaction gurantee, so nothing to lose here.

To make sure if there really was a temperature difference, I started to note down the temperature with my electronic thermostat. After applying the paint in one of my rooms, I

checked my thermostat every few hours, whenever I was at home really, for the first 3 days.

The thermostat was showing that the room was saving heat upto 3degrees compared to my other room. Not only that it was obvious the moment I set foot in the room applied. It felt much warmer than any other room.

To be honest I was really surprised with the result and glad it worked. Well needless to say, I bought few more pouches to apply where else I can.

Hope that helps.
