I'm nearly finished installing ceramic tile in my master bathroom. I left a small expansion space between the new tile and the vertical side of the tub and I need to cover it up. In my other bathroom there is an L shaped metal strip that fits in the corner formed by the floor and tub. I've been to the Lowes and Home Depot neither has this item. What is this thing called and where can I get it?

diyron, welcome to the forum

As far as I know it has no other name than 'metal strip'

However, if there are any other inputs I'm willing to learn from it, as - (duh!) - you are

Hey diyron,

You should look at using some regular shoe molding. That's easy to find and you can also paint or stain it to match whatever you want. Just make sure you caulk everything in nice and prime/paint it with the right product. Hope this helps.

What I wonder tho is, would such strip prevent water from getting under the bathtub?

If you caulk it to both the tub and the floor the right way and use the right paint it will. there are plenty colors of caulk you can pick from, so matching isnt such a problem. Or you can just caulk it before your final coat of paint.
