Hi,
I am currently trying to figure out a way to build a vocal booth in the corner of my room. I was thinking of installing a curtain rail on the ceiling but the ceiling is not very tough quality, weak.
I'm writing this post to find out if anyone has got any idea on how I could install cheap vocal booth.

feel free to post if you have any good ideas.
you can check out my room dimensions in these links below

thanks,

Hi Gerard Manvuca, welcome here

Why do you want to have a curtain rail ?
A vocal booth can easily be build from the bottom .. up(wards)

I'm sorry if I'm misunderstanding you.

I was thinking curtain rail because it's less spacious and when I'm not using it, I can just open the curtains. what did you mean by

'' A vocal booth can easily be build from the bottom .. up(wards) '' ?

let me know

Well, the only vocal booth I've seen (of a friend who also built it himself) - had a 'groundpiece' (don't know exactly how to explain this - like a kind of mold) and the booth was built on top of this having nothing to do with the ceiling

ok so you mean, a vocal booth a mini room with door, the thing is I would need more room, and that booth would always be there where as if it's a curtain system, there would still be room.

I guess probably just padding the back wall behind the mic with black egg shell style foam and also on the left or just build one of these.

Well, with a weak ceiling not being able to support hanging heavy curtains from it, it seems to me you do not have very much options with curtains.... No?

How does showerbooth glass (which you can pad with foam) sound? I'm referring to the wall-mounted hinge harmonica style glass 'wall'.

The picture you provide only muffles part of the space, do you think it's effective?

Actually the ceiling could handle screws and nails.
Showerbooth glass, sounds cool but i would need much more space to fit that in. how big you think it would be roughly?
or how bout having a black acoustic foam panel right above the head area, the left wall and the back of the mic, then install a metal/plastic shower style 90 degree bent pole that would be screwed into the wall on my left and in front of me and hang thick sheet materials on it, so the sound will be absorbed on my right and in my back. foam cost a bit of money but could be cool idea.

I saw that little mic clip acoustic foam sound absorber at a SOUND ON SOUND exhibition in London, according to sources, it is quite effective, the one they were promoting was actually very expensive, somewhere near the £200 mark which seems way to expensive, but I've never tested one of them so wouldn't be entirely sure how efficient it would be in any given room. should try and build one of them and see how well it works.

Yep, that sounds a good idea indeed. Hang the rail from the walls and support it with a pole at the bend while applying and building in all the elements you mentioned above.

The showerbooth harmonica glass would probably cost a bit. I got the idea from a cousin of mine who has it in her bathroom and couldn't have a normal glass separation. She had it custom made so those things are always more expensive anyway.
