Has anyone heard of Warrior brand tires? The guy at Big 10 Tires says they are made by Michelin. I can't find anything about them on a google search or on Michelin's site. Thank for any info.
I didn't attend the funeral, but I sent a nice letter saying I approved of it.

Thanks. I was reluctant to pay $400 for a set of tires I've never heard of.

Approximately 9/6/03 18:26, Phil Margolies uttered for posterity:

I didn't mean to comment on quality or suitability of the Warrior brand. At a minimum you would expect them to have multiple steel belts plus the Pirelli/Michelin wrapping around the steel belts that some other steel belted radials don't have.

For about $400 dollars you can usually get a set of *real* Michelins from a place like Tire Rack, Americas Tire, Discount Tire, etc. Just because the Warrior company is partly owned by Michelin is no guarantee that their tires have the same construction as a real premium grade Michelin. Michelin also owns BF Goodrich and Uniroyal as well as a few other local smaller brands, plus makes models for Sears and a few others. Some of the Sears tires are as good as a Michelin.

A google search for 'warrior tires michelin' (without the punctuation)
returns 14,000 hits. The first URL it pointed to told me

1. Warrior is a Michelin brand
2. They are made in China

Searching for

warrior tires michelin china

Narrows it down even more.

Approximately 9/6/03 13:51, Phil Margolies uttered for posterity:

If you are in the USofA, you can write down all of the numbers and such from the side of the tire and look up the manufacturer on the dot.gov website.

The guy is fairly correct if those are Chinese tires, the old Shanghai Tyre company both got in financial trouble and had a fairly large market share. Michelin and Shanghai Tyre formed a joint venture, Shanghai Michelin Warrior Tire Company, to give Michelin a market inroad, the tire company some money, etc.

Michelin owns all or part of several tire companies and also makes several private label tires. Some of them are good, and some are firestone level.
