Hi All
The sensor has been damaged beyond repair in the iron.
Coopers can only quote part numbers and not specs so I don't know what type it is. I assume its going to be platinum resistance or thermistor but thats only a guess. The iron is 15 yr old and obsolete so no parts are available direct but if I can find out what I need at least I can source one. The device in the controller is labeled up as Weller so I cant spec the device either. The iron is 20w and runs up to 450 deg C.
Any help much appreciated.

Go to Boat Anchor Manual archive (BAMA) or its mirror site.
I have posted MANY of the older manuals and tech sheets.
Larry Smith is manager of the Weller soldering lines and Dino Chandler is in charge fo the repair center.
The EC1301 is a tough iron to work on (small and requires dexterity). Parts are currewntly for sale on eBay ... BUT why not send to Research Triangle Park in N.C. and have Weller reapir? price is identical to cost of ONE bad part. I have repaired Weller units for 35 years (like TCP series) ... EC series (1977 to 2002) was a LONG run (25 years) by anyone's production book.
