i have a plain block garden wall which i want to tidy up as cheaply as possible can i whitewash directly on to it or do i need to render it first. thanks

Looking for helpful information I came across this blog (please click which seems to be giving some pretty good ideas (although it is situated in Spain and not the U.S.).

I stand to be corrected but I've been lead to believe that one should always render before applying the whitewash.
