Hi. We just found out that we have excessive calcium among some other things in our hot water tank. This problem is true throughout the plumbing in the rest of the home. We are going to have to replace the water tank. Prior to doing so I want to install a home water filter system probably by Aquasauna. It seems pretty straight forward except hooking into the main water line for the house. Is there an easy way to locate the line instead of cutting holes in the wall hoping to come across it? Ideally I would like to have it inside next to the water heater to keep the "big" appliances close together and not as cluttered looking. The home was built in 1996 and located in North Flordia. Thanks for any tips or suggestions.

Greeting s EC welcome to the Forum.

First of all, I'm not sure that you're going to correct a Calcification problem, with a Filter. That usually takes a Softener.

All a Filter does, is get the larger Debris out of the System, not change the Chemistry.

Finding a place inside for the Filter can be a real problem. I put mine outside, right after the main Valve for the house. Just couldn't find a place inside, where it would get everything, which is the intent.

You could put it (inside) just ahead of the Heater, and it would help keep trash out of the remainder of the Hot lines, but again, that's not going to help your Calcification.

I bought my Filter at a Hardware Store, cut the pipe after the main valve, bought a new set of nipples and a Union, and put it in myself. A BIG BIG savings on the cost of the job.

Another problem with having it inside, is it can get kinda messy when you change the filter. Think about that!

Have a good Day !
