I am hooking up a video surveillance system and my power supply box requires the transformers to be wired into the electrical cord to be plugged into the wall. There is a white and black wire leading from the transformer that needs to be fused with the electrical cord. Which wire will connect to the wider prong on the electrical cord? The white wire? There is also a ground wire that needs connecting, but I don't have anything to connect it to nearby.

Thanks in advance!

the answer is the white wire is neutral goes to wide prong, black wire is your power goes narrow prong.the new plug will have a silver set screw is the white wire connection.the other set screw will be gold, yel, color or copper color is the black wire.make sure you wire all power supplies the same way if you do not you will get power back feed just be careful so you do not shock youself safety first when dealing with electricty out side.
