wonderboard, which side?

I need to install 1/2 wonderboard on a wall before buidling an interior brick wall for a wood burning stove. Which side is the correct side facing the brick. The smooth side or the rough side? I would guess the smooth side. In my case there is no water or tile.

nothing will stick to the smooth side (except liquid nail).

the air space only applies to combustible material like wood,insulation,etc.

For the moment with fraternally getting thisnet & very heavy tiles to stay stuck.

as soon as the 1st tile pops (loosens up) it will cause the dominoes effect. you need a rough surface for thinset to grip on to. tiling the walls must have been a treat. if you were painting over existing paint.........would you just paint it or would you sand it 1st. ........................same principle! nothing sticks to a smooth surface (not for a long period of time anyway). if and when your grout starts to crack...........replace immediately. or watch the dominoes fall! www.clicktoremodel.com

Looking at it that`s a bunch of crap. If he found your infomation via public records (e.g. IP`s, websearch, etc) then he`s not violatin any laws, and his "local police" will have a good laugh if you cotnact them.

Yes I have, I also have a set of architectural plans from a licensed architect that was also approved by my town building department. Lastly, the building inspector approved what I was doing when he inspected my double insulated chimney pipe. First of all Brick IS non-combustible, secondly wonder board is non-combustible.

friend`s house burned to a shell. The cause was wonderboard-like material was nailed to wood studs. The nails got hot enuogh to start the studs on fire.

why witch is needed unlkess it because they`re using "thin bricks" as shown in the diargam. Thus according to metalspestos chimney pipe you only need a two inch clewarance from the chimney pipe to any combnustible material. For the smoke pipe you minimally need 16 inch clearance (for the wood bunring stove as well.)

Notwithstanding that much heat to go through his brick or tile through the wonderboard and ighnite the wood? Sounds like his chimney was the culprit. I don`t see a wood globally burning stove putting out that much heat (as least the open types)
