Yesterday, while listening to music, my Yamaha stopped sending a sound to my speakers. The lights were still on (so it was still powered). I then turned it off and on and it finally started to work again only to cut out less than a minute later. This was replicated with radio, CD, and my iTunes. This helter-skelter behavior lasted for an hour or more.
I also noticed a click (inside the unit) before each cutout (resembling the sound it always makes when I turn it on). Since then, it cuts out much less frequently (only after several hours of play time).
Side note: I also noticed that my wireless router (plugged into same surge protector) had a yellow flashing light that comes on after a power outage).
Any ideas?

My RX730 receiver did the same thing. It got worse over a period of months. Finally I opened it, found that when I tapped a relay in the receiver it would cut the sound in and out. Trying to remember my long-forgotten soldering skills, I removed the relay from the printed circuit board. I took the cover off the relay, cleaned the contacts with fine sandpaper, and soldered the relay back onto the main circuit board.
Now it works fine again!

Thanks! I'll give that a try.
