I have a Kenmore Heavy Duty Extra Capacity 70 Series Dryer model#96575100. It is electric. My dryer just stopped working. It does not heat up or spin, it just has a clicking noise. I read someone else's post that maybe it was their thermal fuse. Any ideas on what the problem might be?

Remove the rear panel of the dryer and you should see several connected 3" - 4" metal tubes.

Attached to these tubes, you should see several electric thermal 'snap' switches, each with 2 wires attached to them.

Specifically look for one that is white plastic and will be either an oval about 1 3/8" in diameter or rectangular about 3/8" x 1 1/4".

This is a 'one time' thermal fuse that acts an over temp safety.

This will most likely be your problem.

Thank you for answering. Would the thermal fuse keep the dryer from spinning too? There is no heat or spinning it is just making a clicking sound.

I'm not there, you are.

Belt makes the drum go round. door switch, thermal fuse, belt tensioner, motor and heating element.

These are the things that go bad and you need to check them. See other videos on the site I sent you.

svfixer: Thank you so much!!! It was a thermal fuse which only cost $15.66 with tax. Thanks again!
